Sustainable Development

Agile processes promote sustainable development. The sponsors, developers, and users should be able to maintain a constant pace indefinitely.

This is a measure of how well you have adopted Agile methodology.

  • The Business and those that support them will break down the work into achievable chunks of work within a fairly consistent range of size and/or complexity.
  • The work that is accepted for inclusion in a sprint should be defined and understood well enough to be able to commit to delivery.
  • The team should have a good/consistent idea of the relative size of the units of work to be done.
  • The team will commit to what they can deliver, and they will deliver it.
  • The amount of work that the team delivers will be roughly the same from iteration to iteration.

Despite the complexity of some of the things that teams may set out to accomplish, no matter how monumental the project, Agile processes enable the team to consistently deliver units of work that add value to the business, time and time and time again.
